Star Wars: The Force Awakens nail art

Stormtrooper, Darth Vader, R2D2, Lightsabers.

Star Wars the Force Awakens has finally arrived, and did not disappoint.  As is tradition, I made a movie inspired manicure. I have written the instructions in the order in which you should paint if you do the whole thing in one go. 

Step 1: Paint thumbs and three nails black, two nails white, one brown and two gold.

Step 2: Write Star wars on thumbs and paint half of one of the gold nails light blue.

BB-8, C3PO, Chewbacca, hyperspace.

Step 3: Stripes. Start by painting Chewbacca’s bandolier in silver, about 3mm pr. stripe, you can add his black boxes but I didn’t have time. Still using the silver paint the lightsaber handle.

Step 4: Change to a white striper and paint the blade of the lightsaber. Continuing with the white, do the lines on the hyperspace nail, find the middle of the nail and paint lines going out, they don’t have to very precise.  

Step 5: Using a large dotting tool in white make BB-8’s body, Darth Vaders eyes in dark grey, C3PO’s eyes and the bottom of the stormtropper’s ‘sunglasses’.

Step 6: More stripes, start by going over the white lightsabers in the wished colour. Try and paint about 1mm over the white edge so it looks like a light.  Change to dark grey, and do Darth Vaders ‘unibrows’ also, paint his helmet line from the middle and up.  Still using dark grey paint his mouth, which is shaped like a triangle. Start in the middle with the longest line and the go out and down, with a small gap between each line. 

Step 7: Time to do R2D2. Start by painting a black stripe so one third of the nail is over the line. Paint R2’s legs in the edges so it fills one fifth on each side. At the bottom of the nail, paint two squares in back so that there is one fifth left where you can paint a blue square. Across the middle of R2 paint three blue stripes, you can tape it up so it’s easier to do neat lines.  Now do R2’s face with three rectangular blue squares at the bottom and a blue trapeze. Using a small doting tool paint a silver dot, and a tiny silver dot next to it, on the trapeze. Using the tiny dotting tool paint a small red dot on one of the blue rectangles.

Step 8: Back to the striper start with orange and paint a little triangle under C3PO’s eyes as a nose. Continuing with orange, paint a horizontal line at the bottom of the nail, and add some eyebrows. Still using the orange, paint BB-8’s semicircles and also a very thin orange line right above the edge of BB-8’s ‘face’.

Step 9: Time for all the ending black touches, Start with the black square in the middle of C3PO’s mouth, and then with a very thin liner paint the edge of his eyes and an outlying line around BB-8. Then on to the Stormtroopers face, start by painting a line across the top of the eye circles as to make a pair of sunglasses. Then paint his mouth, start from the edge of the sunglasses and paint a small line down and out then in the middle of the face paint the semicircle, now connect the end of the semicircle with the end of the small line you started with.

Step 10: Add a topcoat
