Inside out nail art

Hi everyone,

I went to watch Pixar's Inside Out. It’s amazing, so of course a themed mani is in order.

If you don’t have a lot of time, you can always do one of the designs as an accent nail.

Step 1: Paint all your nails white and your thumbs black. Write Inside out on the thumbs.

Step 2: Anger. Start by sponging a bit of an ombre on your nail with white, yellow, orange, and red. Paint the edges over in white, and make it flame shaped. Paint a red square, (this will become anger) add two small triangles  on top of the square for angers eyebrows. Paint the eyes with a dotting tool (or homemade dotting tool) cut of the top of the eye, so he looks angry. Paint a black square and ad teeth.

Step 3: Sadness. Paint a light blue dot with a dotting tool. Under the dot, paint a light grey square, i added glitter so it looked more like the art style of the movie. 

Add some dark blue hair. Use the dotting tool to add two small black dots (the glasses) make a slightly smaller dot in the glasses using the light blue. Then paint the eyes, on the light blue spot. You can add glitter stripes to the background or just leave it white.

Step 4: Joy. This did not go quite to plan, due to not having the perfect yellow colour for her skin. Start by painting a chubby face. Then paint the pixie cut, i found that painting a lot of small stripes made the hair look quite good, also try using different blues that are nearly the same colour. Then paint the facial features.  

Step 5: Fear. Start by painting his face, which is sort of a fat purple boomerang. Then paint his little curl on the top, and his nose. Paint the eyes and the mouth, the mouth is made up of two upward curves and then add teeth. Add the eyebrows, just paint over a bit of the top of the eyes, in an inward curve to make him look worried. Paint a bow tie (they are cool).

Step 6: Disgust. Start with her face, a round light green blob. Paint a dark green triangle under the blob. Paint a little french scarf between her head and dress. Paint dark green hair over some of the blob to define her face. Draw three sides of a square in light green under her scarf (her crossed arms). Paint her face.

Step 7: Paint the broccoli, it’s basically just like a tree with a quite rounded top.

Step 8: Paint the memory balls, i I had a multicoloured glitter lying around which was perfect for this, if you don’t then just use a dotting tool.

Step 9: The silhouette face - start with a big black circle. Then paint a square-ish jawline, and a nose. Paint a quite wide neck.  Add the same memory  balls as before to inside the head.

Step 10: Finish with a top coat, make sure to leave a little drying time in for each layer, while painting, so you are less likely to smuder your design when applying the top coat.
